Jackie Greene has been touring for over twenty years and I believe I’ve seen him at least three or four times now. You could describe his music as Americana/Roots Rock with maybe some Blues thrown in for good measure. It’s hard to know why some artists become huge stars and some equally, if not more, talented people tour continuously for years without ever getting more than a little critical acclaim but Jackie fits in the touring-without-a-lot-of-recognition mode. He’s a fantastic artist though and one that more people should get to know.

I was a little surprised that Jackie was playing the Crocodile. The venue has a 700 person capacity and I’ve never seen him play anything half that size. It’s been a few years since he’s toured though so I thought maybe something had changed. Nope. As it turns out I guess they misjudged the appetite for an audience coming out on a Sunday night. Someone told me they had only sold ~170 tickets. I think more people showed up than that but it definitely wasn’t close to being a sold out show. No matter though, the audience that was there was enthusiastically appreciative.
